M1 Support Services provides maintenance
for 20 T-38s and enables Air Force to extend innovative F-22 Raptor training program to Tyndall Air Force Base.

10/6/2011 - TYNDALL AIR FORCE BASE – The first two of 20 T-38s were delivered to Tyndall Air Force Base as the Air Force begins expansion of its highly successful Adversary Air Program. Similar to the program at Holloman Air Force Base, the T-38s will play the role of enemy aircraft in aerial combat simulations against the advanced F-22 Raptor fighter.

Although the T-38s have been well maintained, most of them are several decades old. They'll mostly be used for testing navigation and weapons tracking systems on the Raptors. "Although these are older aircraft, they are structurally sound and maintained routinely," said Lt. Col. Glen Richards, 325th Fighter Wing program integration officer.

As safety is paramount to the training program, M1 Support Services was awarded the responsibility for maintaining the aircraft in what Lt. Col. Ronald Miller, 53rd Weapons Evaluation Group command deputy, calls “the most excellence of standards."

M1 Support Services will provide approximately 15 civilian contractors to maintain these standards, as well as launch and receive the T-38s. These two aircraft are the first of 20 T-38s that Tyndall will receive over the course of the next two fiscal years. Read the story >>

M1 Support Services helps Air Force expand
T-38 Adversary Air Program, NASA
Super Guppy delivers first shipment
of reconditioned trainers

1/10/2011 - Holloman Air Force Base, N.M. The first two of fifteen reconditioned T-38 trainers were delivered to Holloman Air Force Base as part of an expansion of the Adversary Air Program. M1 Support Services was tasked to rehab the aircraft fifteen T-38s and bring them back to operational status to be used as aggressor forces against F-22 Raptors during training.

The first two T-38 Talon aircraft, previously used by the Republic of South Korea for pilot training, were delivered by the one-of-a-kind NASA Super Guppy. The Aero Spacelines Super Guppy is a unique, wide-bodied cargo aircraft used to transport spacecraft components for the nation's many space programs. The aircraft will be delivered two at a time until the last of the 15 is delivered in February 2011.

The T-38s will then be reconditioned by the M1 Support Services T-38 CAM program at Holloman and flown to operating locations at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va., and Tyndall AFB, Fla.

"This will keep the T-38 Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Program alive for a number of years and it will allow us to provide these low-cost training assets to help offset the cost of some of these higher cost aircraft," said Miles Crowell, M1 Support Services manager and director of maintenance for the T-38 Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Program.

"This method of fifth generation fighter support has proven a highly efficient and cost-effective way to train." Mr. Crowell added.

M1 Support Services installs new night vision imaging system windshield at Dyess Air Force Base

As part of a modification to reserve c-130’s to improve the aircraft’s night vision capabilities, m1services was selected to install Nine N-V-I-S windshields to improve their night vision capabilities. The installation took around 130-man-hours to complete and provides a 20 percent gain in visual acuity. This provides a marginal improvement that will make their mission better.
